John Montagu in the 1700s. He was once too busy in his desk work or an intense gambling game (it is still a topic of debate), so he could not afford to leave the game/work and wanted some utensil free meal. He requested that meat be brought to him between two slices of bread and this resulted in one of the greatest culinary advances in history.

2). Coke:

John Pemberton in 1886. He was a wounded veteran addicted to morphine, so he decided to create a replacement for his addiction. By experimenting in his pharmacy lab, he created a tonic(the original Coca Cola). In 1887, an Atlanta pharmacist, Asa Candler bought the Coca Cola formula from Pemberton for $2,300 and turned it into America's most popular fountain drink with his aggressive marketing.

3). Potato chips:

Chef George Crum in 1853. An angry customer at Saratoga Springs' Moon Lake House sent a batch of potato chips complaining that the chips were too thick. The pissed Chef decided to take revenge by making the chips inedible. He sliced chips as thin as possible, baked and salted them. To his surprise, the customer just loved the freshly baked batch of chips.

4). Beer

Mesopotamians about 10,000 years ago. The Mesopotamians stored grains for bread. The storage spaces eventually became damp causing the grains to ferment. This process resulted in the first and pristine beer. Let's raise a toast to that great man.

An Arab merchant in 8,000 BCE. He carried milk during his travel in leather sacks made of animal skin. During his far and wide travel, the heat of sun activated rennin, an enzyme found in the stomach lining. The bacteria made the milk curdle and separate into whey. This led to the invention of  the irresistible Cheese.

Now you know the perks of committing a mistake. So make mistake a habit, you might just end up being rich.
